About Us
In 2003, a group of women starting meeting for a regular weekly Bible study.
Individually, they were also involved volunteering with service projects and/or
ministries at their home churches. This brought a source of enjoyment but each
had a desire deep within their heart to serve others in ways that were based
upon their own individual experiences. They began to pray alone and as a group
asking the Lord to reveal to them a cause that they collectively knew something
about where they could serve others together and give out of their own need.
Since that season of prayer, God graciously gave them hearts of compassion for
the needs of the women and children He refers to in James 1:27. Their needs are
many! But the ones these ladies discovered that they are most passionate about
are unmet home repairs and services. For instance, they know first hand that
the absence of a male figure in the home causes these types of needs to go unmet
because women typically won’t ask for help, and for 2 reasons….FEAR
of what a guy may expect in return and/or LACK OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES. God specifically
burdened their hearts for fatherless children, single moms and poor elderly widow
women who don’t have family to turn to or resources to tap into in order
to get these needs met. What do they do? This need is overwhelming and God moved
in them to do something about it.
So they got busy and formed Heroes for Kiddos and Widows, James 127 Servants,
Inc., a non-profit 501(c3) tax exempt corporation. They partner with local churches
and community organizations like Meal on Wheels to reach out and show compassion
to those in need.
In their estimation, James 1:27 is the very heartbeat of God’s word and
that caring for the needs of these, His children, are of His highest in priority….”Pure
religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless
and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”
